about Chris
Born and raised in Manchester, Chris has been carving himself a space in London for the last couple of decades.
He is curious, and his portraits have always sought to reveal a truth, to push into the space where people stop performing and exist in all their unusual-ness.
This need for truth, coupled with a love of abstraction and shape, has moved his portraits from honest reincarnations into truthful artworks.
This same curiosity has led him into darkness. Working entirely without ambient light, he builds botanical images from scratch using long exposures and handheld torchlight. One frame. Never a composite. The results sit somewhere between photography and painting.
He shoots portraits, takes commercial briefs and makes fine art work.
Often all three at once.
